A major breakthrough unfolded in Katsina State as Engr. Abdurrahman Ahmad Kandarawa, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Bakori, spearheaded a delicate negotiation with terrorist groups, culminating in the recovery of 45 kidnapping victims. The release occurred following a newly renewed “peace agreement” between local community leaders and the militants — a move aimed at ending long-standing conflict and bloodshed in the region.
According to reports, the militants said they honored the terms of the accord and called for restraint from government and security forces, urging that no escalation be allowed so their people could safely return to their communities.
In a video shared by SaharaReporters, one of the armed men confirmed that both sides had kept their promises, creating an environment conducive to peace.
During the talks, Hon. Kandarawa drew an analogy to international diplomacy, likening the truce to peace agreements like the one between Gaza and Israel — emphasizing that peaceful coexistence is a legitimate path toward securing a better future.
Though the deal has brought relief to many, some remain cautious, recalling that similar peace pacts in the region have been fragile in the past.
