Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has announced plans to take his case to the Court of Appeal following his life sentence handed down by Justice James Omotosho in Abuja. The court found him guilty on all seven terrorism-related charges, sentencing him to life on several counts, plus additional concurrent terms.
According to his legal team, led by Aloy Ejimakor, the ruling was deeply unfair and will be challenged aggressively — if necessary, all the way to the Supreme Court. Kanu’s family also revealed that during a meeting on November 21, he expressed disbelief at how the court applied what he saw as a repealed law, questioned the legitimacy of the evidence, and lamented that earlier rulings that had cleared him were ignored.
He reportedly laughed off the judgment, calling it “a predetermined script,” and highlighted what he claimed was fabrication of evidence and a bias in his prosecution.
