A gang of armed bandits on Monday evening invaded the Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, abducting 11 people — including a visibly pregnant woman, two nursing mothers and several children.
Eyewitnesses said about 20 to 30 gunmen entered the agrarian hamlet, driving a large herd of cattle and opening fire indiscriminately. Panicked residents fled as the attackers ransacked homes. After the shooting, spent AK-47 shells were found scattered across the community, with bullet holes left in doors and walls.
A community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the kidnapped included seven members of a single family. Those taken have been identified as Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), housewife Habibat, housewife Fatima Yusufu, pregnant woman Sarah Sunday (22), nursing mother Lami Fidelis (23), and nursing mother Haja Na Allah.
Tragically, the violent assault comes just days after another kidnapping incident in the same region, when gunmen abducted 38 worshippers during an attack on a church in nearby Eruku — highlighting a dangerous escalation in the region’s insecurity.
