A final-year student of the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has tragically taken his own life following his suspension for alleged involvement in exam malpractice. The student, identified as Quadri, was studying Economics and had only two months left to complete his program.
According to reports, Quadri was caught using a mobile phone during an examination, which led to his immediate suspension. Friends and classmates revealed that the news of the suspension deeply affected him emotionally, especially as it meant he might not graduate with his peers. Despite attempts to encourage and console him, the weight of the situation reportedly became too much for him to bear.
On Wednesday, June 26, Quadri was found dead in his room after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance. His body was discovered by a friend who raised an alarm, prompting efforts to rush him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The school authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident, but the tragedy has sparked emotional reactions among students, who are calling for better mental health support on campus. The loss of Quadri has left a somber atmosphere at the institution, with many mourning a life cut short under painful circumstances.
